Here are a few questions we get often…

Q: How do you reach kids teens and parents?
A: Through school partnerships. We work with middle and high schoolers during the regular school-day and we work with their parents in an after school setting. We’re currently exploring a virtual classroom option for parents to make attendance a little easier.
Q: Do you work with boys and girls together or separately?
A: High schoolers are split and paired with an educator of the same sex. If scheduling allows, we bring them together for a few conversations. There’s a little more flexibility with middle schoolers, but we tend to split them as well. Generally, the kids prefer it.
Q: How long does the program last?
A: Ideally, we work with students for one trimester every year from 7th through 12th grade meeting twice per week. That works out to between 16 and 24 sessions. We work with their parents before, during, and after the program for a total of 3 to 6 sessions.
Q: Why do the number of sessions vary?
A: The short answer is we’re still studying where the results plateau. In other words, where the returns start to diminish. As we accumulate data, the picture becomes clearer, and eventually it will be standardized. Practically speaking, scheduling and budgeting constraints also play a role. We work very closely with our school partners to maximize resources and impact.
